Rob graduated from Mount Tahoma High School in 1985, a lifelong resident of the Tacoma area. He always enjoyed working on cars, so he took his first job at Gilchrist Buick shortly after graduating. Gilchrist put him through the Buick Apprentice Mechanic training program and he went on to become a capable mechanic over the next 10 years. He then joined the Russ Dunmire Oldsmobile team from 1985 to 1995, continuing his training to become a journeyman mechanic. He parted ways with Russ Dunmire to join University Place Radiator Auto Service in 2007 and has honed his skill and experience even further. Robbie is an invaluable member of our team, bringing a can-do attitude and a work ethic that is second to none.

Bill Caillier opened University Place Radiator Service in 1979, renting a space in what was once a lumberyard. Bill’s experience as an accomplished Metal worker helped him build a successful niche business over the first few years. As his reputation grew, people began to bring in their cars for general repair. He added mufflers and brake repair to the radiator business in the late 80s and the business continued to grow. Over the years, he and his wife Joyce added employees, opened a successful marine manifolds business, and continued to build upon their reputation as a quality auto repair facility with a hometown feel. They demonstrated consistently a real passion to take care of their customers.
Our promise to you, our valued customers and friends; We will always treat you and your vehicle like family, always giving you personal service, accurate assessments, and quality repairs. We’ve been trusted and honored to serve you and our community for 37 years and we look forward to serving you for another 37 and beyond.
